Edel McSharry eliminated as Frank Feighan nears finish line

Counting of votes is continuing in the Sligo Leitrim constituency with the Count 10 declaration.

No candidate has reached the quota of 11,381 on this count but Fine Gael's Frank Feighan is edging closer on 11,064 - and he will be returned as a Sligo-Leitrim TD in Count 11.

While Marian Harkin (Independent) has made up some ground on the candidates above her, it looks unlikely that she be able to catch Independent Ireland's Michael Clarke.

Clarke is a cousin of Edel McSharry - and is expected to benefit substantially from the distribution of her votes in Count 11.
