An email address has been set-up which will allow members of the public get in touch with their local community garda in Sligo about any issue of concern.
This was just one of a number of new measures being put in place by the Community Policing Division which were highlighted at a recent meeting of the Joint Policing Committee for the Sligo region.
The force hope to provide more community engagement through their text alert and facebook page and say it is also updating its Garda Schools Programme.
Sergeant in charge of the Sligo Town Community Policing Unit Angela Cummins says all matters will always be treated in the strictest confidence.
