Emergency action needed to deal with shortage of substitute teachers

There are calls for emergency action to be taken to deal with a growing problem of a shortage of substitute teachers.

It's after a north Sligo primary school had to ask parents of children in one classroom to keep them at home after the school couldn't find a substitute teacher.

Sligo/Leitrim Sinn Fein TD Martin Kenny says some schools are now finding themselves in the unprecedented situation of not being able to find a substitute teacher in an emergency.
