Enniscrone Glamping Park could be eligible for funding

Enniscrone Glamping Park could be eligible for funding

If a proposed glamping park in the west Sligo village of Enniscrone was designated by Bord Failte as a flagship project along the Wild Atlantic Way, it would become eligible for a grant of €750,000 that would help it get off the ground.

That's according to local Independent Councillor Michael Clarke who told a meeting of Sligo County Council that the project would create 40 temporary and permanent jobs in Enniscrone.

The project, the brainchild of well-known undertaker David McGowan, made international headlines nearly four years ago when a disused Russian airplane was brought from Limerick to Enniscrone by barge for use in the proposed glamping park.

Council Chief Executive Ciaran Hayes said the council was conscious the project was a private venture, and it had to go through the planning process.

But he added that, in principle, the council was very supportive of it.

Cllr Clarke said it was a fantastic project that, so far, has got no State support.
