A Sligo Councillor is calling for every step to be taken which would prevent strike action by the National Ambulance Service
Cllr Donal Gilroy has made the call as a ballot for strike action is to begin by SIPTU members in the National Ambulance Service.
They're in a dispute with the HSE over its failure to fully bring in reforms around NAS recommendations that include the introduction of new grades of staff, new job descriptions and the upskilling of workers.
The Fianna Fail Councillor who is also a member of the Regional Health Forum West says with an ambulance being based in Grange it's vital that the services are not disrupted by strike action:
