Efforts are underway to generate interest in one of Sligo's most influential natives, yet one is now virtually forgotten.
He's William Bourke Cockran, who was born in Ballinacarrow in 1854.
An exhibition about him, his work and times opened last night in Sligo Town Hall.
One of those involved in the effort to resurrect interest in Bourke Cockran is Keville Burns.
He's been telling Ocean FM News about the man.
