On what was one of the worst mornings of the year with snow and ice, about 100 farmers turned out in County Leitrim for a protest over the Department of Agriculture's fodder scheme.

It's was organised by the Irish Natura and Hill Farmers' Association outside the Department of Agriculture offices in Drumshanbo.

Farmers handed in a letter for the minister to the department's office there.

The protest came in advance of the minister's visit to Leitrim on Wednesday.
