Fine Gael MEP Colm Markey has welcomed plans for a smooth transition to the next Common Agricultural Policy.
The European Parliament has approved a new law which extends the existing rules until the end of 2022.
It means farmers won't see interruptions to their payments.
Colm Markey says MEPs fought to have a two-year transition.
