Fear of election could force parties to form a government

A Sligo Leitrim TD claims that the fear of another general election could well force the main political parties to reach common ground and form a new government.

 

Leo Varadkar and Micheál Martin will meet today to discuss options for forming the next government.

Sligo Leitrim Independent TD Marian Harkin says Independent candidates will play a vital role in the makeup of the next government.

 

Deputy Harkin has confirmed that she has held sepereate discussions with Sinn Fein and Fianna Fáil in relation to a possible government formation.

The former Midlands West MEP added that the fear of facing the electorate again could well be a major motivation in Parties hammering out a deal and form a Government.
