Fears for cross-border health agreements post-Brexit

Fears for cross-border health agreements post-Brexit

A Donegal Cancer campaigner says action needs to be taken now to ensure that Brexit does not impact health agreements between hospitals north and south of the border.

Two agreements are currently in place between Letterkenny University Hospital and Altnagelvin Hospital in Derry.

The two service level agreements are in place for radiotherapy and cardiac services.

In a statement to Ocean FM News, the Saolta Hospital Group has confirmed it plans to increase these service agreements to allow patients from Letterkenny University Hospital access treatment in Altnagelvin.

However, Betty Holmes of the Donegal Action for Cancer Care says that the future of agreements like this could be in jeopardy post-Brexit.

She's urging the governments North and South to ensure this does not happen:
