Fears of North West farms being sold off to vulture funds

There are growing fears in the Agriculture sector that more farms loans are about to be sold off to Vulture Funds.

The IFA is urging Banks to stop selling farm loans to Vulture funds, after it emerged this week that AIB and Rabobank are considering selling further farm loans to unregulated vulture funds.

Roscommon East Galway Independent TD Michael Fitzsmaurice has worked with, and on behalf of a number of farmers in helping them to try and keep ownership of their farms.

Deputy Fitzsmaurice has confirmed that a number of these farmers he is working with in difficulty are based in the North West.

He is now urging caution across the board when it comes to dealing with the situation.
