Sligo/Leitrim TD has launched the first national healthy eating guide for one to four years olds.
Minister of State for Public Health Frank Feighan launched the new initiative, which aims to establish healthy eating habits at a young age, increasing the likelihood they will carry them into adulthood.
There are nine key points with the new initiative such as portion sizes, drinking milk or water and ensuring children get enough Vitamin D, especially as we head into the darker months.
According to Deputy Feighan, one in five five year olds are overweight or obese, and instilling a good routine at an early age is important.
