Fianna Fáil seeking nominations ahead of General Election

The Fianna Fáil party has indicated that is now seeking nominations for candidates to contest the next General Election in the Sligo-Leitrim constituency.

Party members in the constituency have been informed that they have until 15th July next to submit nominations.

No date has yet been set for the party convention, nor has the candidate strategy for Sligo-Leitrim been decided.

Fianna Fáil took one seat in Sligo-Leitrim at the last General Election in 2020 - Marc MacSharry - but he later resigned from the party and remains an Independent TD.

There is speculation regarding a number of possible candidates already, including Sligo County Councillors Tom MacSharry, Edel McSharry and Paul Taylor.
