The Sitting Fianna Fáil councillor, Dónal Gilroy has failed in his bid to be selected as a party candidate for the upcoming local elections in the Sligo-Drumcliffe MD.
Edel MacSharry was selected by local party members at last night’s convention and will be put forward on the Fianna Fáil ticket for the elections which are due to be held in June of next year.

The convention took place at the Sligo Southern Hotel last night.

Speaking to Ocean FM news, Cllr Gilroy says he’s disappointed but hopes to be added to the party ticket as the second candidate.
Meanwhile Edel Mac Sharry expressed here delight delighted with the vote of confidence from the party delegates and says the work begins now.
