The research shows that the levels in Sligo and Leitrim are both also below the national level.

Sligo at just over €21,207 and 13% and Leitrim at €21,100 and 13.4% were also below the national average.

Disposable income measures how much a person has after tax and including any Social Welfare payments such as pension or Child Benefit.

Nationally, People living in Dublin had the highest disposable income in the state with an average disposable income of €27,958 in 2021.

The figures also claim that 30 percent of all employed people in the state worked in Dublin in 2021.

The Midlands region had the lowest level of disposable income, generating a total of just €6.7 billion in 2021, followed by the border region which generated €8.45 million in disposable income in 2021.
