There will be a special celebration this Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock in the parish church of Killennummery, Co Leitrim.
Local man Edward Cosgrove, from Ballinagare, was ordained last Sunday to the priesthood in the Jesuits' Milltown Park Chapel in Dublin.
He has been studying for the priesthood for the past 10 years, and spent last three in the Jesuit School of Theology at the University of Toronto, in Canada.,
This Sunday, he will celebrate his first Mass in Ballinagare church, which is across the road from his home.
The parish priest of Killenummery and Killery, Fr Vincent Connaughton, hopes his ordinarion and his first Mass might be an inspiration and encouragement to others.
