The first storm of 2018 is due to make landfall this afternoon with Eleanor bringing winds of up to 130 km an hour.
Gardai in North West are already warning motorists to be aware of spot flooding in places this morning after heavey rain overnight.
However, the NW is not expected to be worst hit by today's storm with an orange wind warning in place for Munster, Leinster and South Galway, with a yellow warning everywhere else.
