The footpath being reinstated at Carricknagat between Collooney and Ballisodare has been extended.
Originally planned to be 27 metres in length, it has now been upgraded to be 200 metres.
Speaking to OceanFM News, Independent Sligo Councillor Marie Casserly says the works are due to be completed by the end of the month.
