Former Councillor plays key role in providing seats for Ballymote public

A Sligo councillor who lost his seat on the council has played a key role in providing seats for the public in the town of Ballymote.

The seats were installed this week following a motion put forward at the council last year by former Councillor Keith Henry.

Since then, a so-called 'walkability audit' of the town was done, followed by a appliction through the tidy towns and the Health Ireland Fund for the money to provide the benches.

Keith Henry says the seats will be welcomed by people who want to have a rest or sit down and have a chat.
