Former election candidate calls for national emergency to be declared

A former Local Election candidate in Leitrim has called for a national emergency to be declared in the aftermath of storm Eowyn.

Leslie O' Hora wants all Hotels that are no longer being used to house Ukrainian refugees to be opened as community hubs so that members of the public can avail of hot food, take showers and work remotely.

The former Green party candidate says that the Government should establish a network of storm shelters across the country so those impacted by storm damage to their homes will have somewhere to stay in the immediate aftermath of devastating storms such as last Friday's.
