Met Eireann warns another 'icy blast' due at the weekend

Met Eireann warns another 'icy blast' due at the weekend

8am:

A low temperature alert remains in place until ten o'clock this morning.

Met Eireann issued the status yellow warning as sub zero temperatures returned to parts of the country overnight.

Some inland areas like Gurteen and Ballymote recorded temperatures as low as -4 this morning.

The weather is to remain settled over the coming days but another icy blast is due to hit this weekend.

Forecaster Liz Walsh says it could lead to some snow next week:

Frosty in many areas this morning with temperatures recorded as low as -4 degrees in some inland areas of the region including Gurteen and Ballymote.

Foggy as well in places again worse inland.

Gardai are warning of frost on all routes but the roads appear to be dry in most areas.

Nevertheless the Authorities are urging people to drive with care.
