Ten thousand euro has been allocated for signage on the Sligo Way.
It will cover the cost of eight new way-markers along the eight-kilometre section of the trail from Sligo Wood/Innisfree to Ballisodare.
The way markers will complement existing markers carved from local limestone by Sligo-based sculptor Martha Quinn, which have been erected between Sligo Wood/Innisfree and Dromahair.
The €10,000 for the Sligo Way is part of a €50,000 allocation to local authorities from the Creative Ireland Programme.
Sligo Fine Gael Councillor Thomas Walsh says this money will be a boost during the current difficult time for people in the cultural and creative sector in local communities.
