The death has taken place of former Sligo Rovers player Jimmy Burnside.
Burnside, a native of Forthill made 140 appearances for the club, scoring 40 goals in the 1950s and 60s.

Affectionately known as 'Burgo', he was part of the Rovers team that reached the semi-finals of the FAI Cup in the 1965/66 season.
He later moved to London and then San Francisco.

His funeral mass will take place at Saint Anne's Church in Sligo on Monday, December 30th at 11am with burial afterwards in Sligo cemetery.
