President Michael D. Higgins is attending the funeral of the late artist Seán McSweeney.
The funeral is getting underway at 11am in St. Patricks Church, Maugherow.
Seán was one of Irelands best known landscape artists who was born and raised in Dublin and then moved to Sligo in the 80's where he remained for the rest of his life.
Mr McSweeney was well known locally and nationally in the art scene with people coming from all over to view his work.

He was elected a member of Áosdana in 1984, the same year he moved to Sligo.
