A Sligo Leitrim TD has reiterated calls on the Justice Minister to establish a transport policing system within An Garda Síochána.
It follows recent reports of antisocial and criminal behaviour on the Sligo - Connolly line, with conditions faced by staff and passengers also said to be worsening.
Issues nationwide include open drug use and drug dealing, harassment and assault of passengers and staff, excessive alcohol use, and intimidation.
Previously, the Department of Justice and the NTA felt there that was no requirement for a unit of An Garda Síochána to be dedicated to transport policing.
But Sinn Feins Justice Spokesperson Deputy Martin Kenny says it's time to revisit the matter:
