Further detections of cryptosporidium lead to extension of Boil Water Notice in south Sligo

The boil water notice affecting 13,000 houses in south and west Sligo has been extended again.

The notice was first issued back in February after cryptosporidium was found in the water at the Lough Talt treatment plant.

Irish Water now says there have been further detections of cryptosporidium, despite about five months of clear sampling.

South Sligo Fianna Fail Councillor Jerry Lundy says the extension of the notice is bad news for many people:
