Garda Cars used to transport patients to Hospital

Gardaí have raised concerns about patrol cars being used to transport patients to hospital.

The Garda Representative Association,  Association says Gardaí are routinely dispatched to homes for situations that are "purely medical".

It's emerged that in Donegal, Gardaí at the scene of an incident had to decide whether or not to put a patient in a Garda car as an ambulance hadn't arrived.

GRA Vice President Brendan O'Connor says Gardaí are being forced to make decisions without the relevant medical knowledge.
