A novice driver in Donegal has been slapped with three penalty points after using their mobile phone behind the wheel.
Gardai were at the scene of a collision in Letterkenny yesterday when they observed the motorist recording the scene on their phone as they passed by.
The Novice driver in question was stopped and a Fixed Charge Penalty Notice was issued.
Learner and novice drivers have a lower penalty points threshold compared to fully licenced drivers.
L and N drivers who get 7 penalty points in a 3-year period will be banned from driving for 6 months.
Gardai are reminding people to always drive safely and follow the rules of the road. Never use/hold a mobile phone while driving.
