Gardai have confirmed a 25 year old woman is being treated in hospital following an alleged assault in Ballyshannon overnight.
Gardai have confirmed they were notified of the incident at about half past two this morning.
The young woman was taken to Sligo University Hospital where she is being treated for head injuries.
The incident which is reported to have happened in the Market street area.

The area from the top of Tir Chonaill street to market street had been sealed off by Gardai today, but has since reopend.
