Gardai in the North West have issued a warning over defrosting vehicles.
Motorists are being asked not to start their vehicle and leave it unattended, particularly in built up areas.
Gardai say that this makes life easy for opportunist thieves who could potentially steal your car.
They are asking everyone to defrost their vehicle externally by using de-icer or warm water, or if you turn on your car please remain inside your car and take the time to defrost windscreens thoroughly.
