Leitrim Gardaí have launched an investigation into the cause of a car fire at the home of Sligo/Leitrim Sinn Fein TD, Martin Kenny.
At around 2.30am this morning, the alarm was raised at the home of Deputy Kenny in Aughavas, Ballinamore, Co. Leitrim where a car on the property was on fire.
No person or any other property was damaged in the incident and Gardaí have launched an investigation into the cause with technical experts carrying out tests.
Sinn Fein Leader, Mary Lou McDonald, is condemning what she says 'appears to have been a very deliberate and targeted attack.'
Deputy Kenny received death threats last Friday after he showed support for a proposal to house asylum seekers in Ballinamore.
Speaking on Friday when he received the threats, Deputy Kenny says he stands up for what he believes is right.
