Gardaí are investigating an alleged sexual assault that is reported to have occurred in the early hours of this morning in Sligo Town.
A man was arrested and has been detained at Ballymote Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
A grassy area along the bank of the Garavogue River, at the junction of Markievicz Road and Hughes Bridge, has been cordoned off and is being examined by gardai.
