Gardaí have been carrying out checkpoints across Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal this weekend ensuring Covid-19 restrictions are being followed.
People are being reminded that under the current restrictions, the 5km limit is only in relation to exercise and that all other journeys require a valid reason for travel.
Gardaí have received reports of some travelling long distances to go surfing in areas such as Strandhill which is beyond the limit set for many.
Those without a reasonable excuse for travel beyond their 5km can be issued on the spot fines of €100.
