Gardai in Ballymote in County Sligo followed an alert they received on their Automatic Number Plate Recognition app to stop a motorist who tested positive for cannabis in a roadside drugs test.
The driver was arrested and a blood sample obtained at Ballymote Garda Station.
The sample has been sent for analysis with a court appearance set to follow if a positive result is received.
On conviction, the driver could face a driving ban and a fine.
