Fianna Fáil’s Edel McSharry and Dónal Gilroy and Tom Fox of Fine Gael look set to battle it out for the fourth and fifth seats in the five-seater Sligo-Drumcliffe Municipal District.
That’s according to tally figures completed for that electoral area.
The tally figures show McSharry on 1,314 first preference votes and Gilroy on 1,159 first preference votes.
Much controversy surrounded McSharry's selection as she was selected by local party members in October's convention ahead of then, sitting councillor Gilroy.
Gilroy was later selected by the party, however to contest the local elections.
Their joined closely by Fine Gael candidate Tom Fox, who has recorded 1,004 first preference votes.
His Fine Gael colleague Thomas Walsh looks set to top the poll on 1,881 first preference votes.
That's followed by Sinn Féin's Thomas Healy on 1,438 and Independent Marie Casserly on 1,386.
Note: The figures above are tally figures – the official count for Sligo-Drumcliffe will begin later.
