Two Sligo designated centres for people with disabilities have received glowing reports from the health watchdog.
Inspections were carried out at both Dun Siog and Farmhill in March of this year, the details of which been published today.
Dun Siog is a bungalow located in a rural location and provides care for up to 3 individuals and can support residents who have severe/profound intellectual disabilities.
The HIQA inspector noted that the Dun Siog house was warm, clean, tidy and homely with residents’ bedrooms were decorated in line with their tastes.
The centre was noted by the inspector to be in very good repair.
All three residents on the afternoon of the inspection were met and outlined that they were happy in their home and that the staff were nice.
All nineteen regulations inspected at the centre were deemed compliant.
Farmhill, meanwhile, provides full time residential services to three adults with intellectual disabilities, compromising of two ground floor apartments in a complex in an urban residential area within county Sligo.
The apartments were found to be comfortably furnished and have communal areas to the front and rear of the buildings.
The residents were found to have received a person-centered service and that each of their choices were supported.
The inspector commented that staff training and development, along with good governance arrangements, ensured that a safe and effective service was provided.
