Both the Government and the Housing Minister are being accused of throwing Donegal County Council under the bus.
The comments come as urgent clarification is being sought over the role of local authorities will have in the wake of the eviction ban being lifted.
The ban is due to come to an end in the coming weeks however there’s concern in the North West over a narrative that local authorities will buy a tenants home so they won’t have to move.
Councillor Noel Jordon says he’s been inundated with affected people, who fear that they will have nowhere to live in a fortnights time.
He has described what is being spun at national level as “disturbing” and if it comes to pass, will put undue pressure on Councils right across the country:
