GRA call for the practice of unaccompanied officers patrolling alone to end

A Garda is still being treated in hospital for concussion after being seriously assaulted in Blacklion yesterday.

The incident occurred at 2am when Garda Padraig Scott, from Tulsk in Co Roscommon, stopped a car.

The 29-year-old had a gun pointed at him, was attacked and doused in petrol.

A local GRA representative has condemned the attack.

Garda James Morrisroe a GRA representative for Cavan and Monaghan.

He says the practice of Gardaí patrolling rural remote areas unaccompanied must be ended immediately.
