The Green Party has confirmed it will be putting forward a candidate to contest the next general election in the Sligo/ Leitrim/ South Donegal/ and North Roscommon constituency.
The party will hold a public meeting this evening in the Glasshouse, Sligo, at 8pm to discuss the climate emergency.
Dr Bláithín Gallagher, is a member of the National Executive of the Green Party and recently contested the local elections in Leitrim.
She says the party will run a selection process and says it's vital they put forward a candidate to protect and champion environmental issues in the north west.
