Sligo Leitrim TD Marian Harkin is calling for proper contracts of employment for Adult Education tutors.
Currently, Adult Education tutors salaries are based on a unregistered teacher's salary and are capped at 22 hours per week.
Adult Education tutors are also not paid during holiday periods such as Easter, Summer and Christmas.
In March 2020, the labour court recommended that the Department of Education make the tutors an offer.
While, last July tutors were promised that an offer would be on the table by the end of September.
Deputy Marian Harkin expressed her concern that tutors will receive a much smaller public service pension owing to the fact their work is capped 22 hours per week:
