A Sligo/Leitrim TD told the Dail today that many people with disabilities are no longer able to afford transport costs.
Independent Deputy Marian Harkin was speaking during a debate on three support schemes for people with disabilities - schemes that opposition TD's say are effectively suspended.
The Regional Group of Independent TDs says the Mobility Allowance and Motorised Transport Grant were withdrawn in 2013 - and there are also issues with the Disabled Drivers Scheme.
They claim people with disabilities are 'marooned in their own homes' as a result.
