Harkin raises overcrowding at local Hospitals in Dáil

A Sligo/Leitrim TD has for the second time this month raised the issue of overcrowding at Sligo and Letterkenny University Hospitals.

Independent Deputy, Marian Harkin, says both hospitals are consistently in the top 5 worst affected nationally with Letterkenny being the second most or worst hit for almost a month straight.

Speaking in the Dail, she said hospitals across the country are under immense pressure despite 9,500 extra staff have been hired since 2020.

She said there is trauma and pain behind each statistic.
