Hawk's Well theatre needs €50,000 a year from council

Hawk's Well theatre needs €50,000 a year from council

The Hawk's Well Theatre in Sligo is asking Sligo County Council to give it €50,000 for each of the coming three years.

The theatre needs the money if it is to provide matching funding for €550,000 it has been promised by the government.

The council has already made provision in its budget for €50,000 for the theatre this year.

At this morning's meeting of the county council, Marie O Byrne, director of The Hawk’s Well, outlined to councillors the work they plan to do.

It includes improving accessibility, flood prevention, provision of office space, a small performance space, improvements to the auditorium and to the front of the building and an extended foyer.

Marie O Byrne says it's vital they get match funding:
