Health led response to tackle children's Alcohol & Drugs related illnesses

A Sligo Leitrim TD says greater education led approach is the best option to combat the recent rise in the number of young people that are suffering with Drugs and Alcohol related illnesses each year.

Over 900 children were treated in hospital for such conditions in 2020

Minster for state for State at the Department of Health Frank Feighan says that a number of initiatives have been launched to tackle the conditions such as the National Drugs strategy and the National Drugs Awareness Programme.

Minister Feighan says it's vital that information is being provided to children on the dangers of drugs and alcohol abuse.
