The Health Minister has given a guarantee that 'world-class' cardiac facilities are on the way to the Northwest.
Cardiac cath labs play a key role in the treatment and diagnosis of heart conditions, including heart attacks.
Currently only a mobile unit visits Sligo University Hospital once a week.
Fine Gael, Sligo/Leitrim TD Tony McLoughlin raised the issue in the Dail yesterday, and Health Minister, Simon Harris says world class cardiac services will be rolled out across the country eventually:

However, he failed to address concerns by deputy McLoughlin that the review is taking too long.

A public consultation process on the National Cardiac Review nationwide is set to open in June and people will be able to make their submissions.
