Health services in North West issue advice ahead of bank holiday weekend

Health services in the North West have issued some advice ahead of a busy bank holiday weekend.

 

People are being asked to consider all healthcare options.

Ahead of the February bank holiday weekend, the HSE is encouraging the public to know where to go should you or your family become unwell.

 

Health staff across hospital and community services in the region will continue to work together to ensure patient flow and access to services throughout the long weekend.

Before attending the hospital Emergency Department in Sligo, people are being urged to give consideration to the likes out of hours GP services and pharmacies.

 

Patients who attend EDs for routine and non-urgent treatment may have long waiting times over the coming weekend and into early next week.

 

Caredoc covers Sligo, North Leitrim and West Cavan while NoWDOC covers Donegal and South Leitrim - opening hours for both services are 6pm Friday this evening to 9am Tuesday.

 

In a statement, Tony Canavan, CEO Saolta University Health Care Group warned that they are preparing for increased demand for hospital services in the North West this bank holiday weekend.
