The unannounced inspection of the facility took place in November 2023 with the details published today.

The designated centre is registered to provide for 32 residents who require long-term residential care or who require short term respite, convalescence, dementia, or palliative care.

The HIQA inspection report highlighted that the provider did not sufficient staff on duty to meet the needs of the residents taking into account their dependencies and preferences for care and daily routines.

Under training and staff management, three new staff had not attended any mandatory safeguarding training.

Procedures that were in place to ensure residents' voices were heard and used to inform service delivery were not being implemented effectively.

One allegation of potential abuse of a resident had not been notified to the chief inspector within the required notification period. The notification was, however submitted following the inspection.

Under food and nutrition, residents were not made aware and offered of all of the choices from the breakfast menu that were available to them.

As a result, residents did not know the range of breakfast items that they could choose from.

The provider was also found to have failed to ensure that a potential safeguarding incident had been recorded and followed up in line with the centre's own Protection of Vulnerable Adults form abuse policy.
