Ballymote Community Nursing Home Unit was found to be non-compliant with seven regulations while two breaches were found at Sonas Ard na Gréine in Enniscrone.

There were 30 residents at the centre at the time of the inspection.

Under governance and management, it was found that Ballymote Community Nursing Unit needed to take a number of actions to ensure that the services provided to residents are safe, appropriate, consistent and effectively monitored.

Staffing, complaints procedure, personal possessions, individual assessment and care plan and residents’ rights were also found to be non-compliant.

Sonas Ard na Gréine in Enniscrone, meanwhile provides 24-hour long term, convalescent, and respite care for both male and female residents.

There were 47 residents at the centre at the time of the inspection.

Under premises at Sonas Ard na Gréine, the centre was found to be well-maintained, however it was noted that a section of ceiling tiles required redecoration and repair as they were cracked and stained.

HIQA did, however, find breaches in relation to staffing and governance and management.

The centres have been asked to provide compliance plans to demonstrate how they will make improvements and come into compliance with the regulations.
