Seven plaques outlining aspects of Sligo's history will be unveiled at various locations around the town this Thursday afternoon.
It's part of a project by Sligo Tidy Towns Heritage Team.
A total of 20 plaques will be erected by the end of this August and will form a historic trail around Sligo.
The plaques will outline the history of buildings they are on and, in some cases, the stories of people associated with them.

Chairman of the Tidy Towns Heritage Team Jim Lawlor says the project focuses attention on the tourism potential of Sligo's historic past:
