Donegal Gardaí are encouraging people to check their home security regularly as burglary rates increase by 25% during the winter.
Locally, Gardaí are appealing for information on two burglaries that took place in Temple Street in Sligo and the Church road area of Bundoran recently.
Jewellery and money remain the most common objects stolen by criminals.
The general advice is to lock all doors and windows, use an alarm even when at home, store keys away from windows and postboxes and do no post on social media about any upcoming holidays or trips away.
